Roles and Responsibilities of the Family Director
(Oversight Role – Not a Member of the Reunion Planning Committee)
1. Oversight & Governance
✅Serve as a steward of the family’s long-term vision and values
✅Provide general oversight to ensure reunion planning aligns with family traditions, goals, and legacy
✅Monitor reunion efforts from a high-level perspective without managing daily planning tasks
2. Support & Advisory Role
✅Act as a resource and support system for the Family Reunion Planning Committee
✅Provide guidance or input when committees request help with major decisions, conflicts, or challenges
✅Step in only when necessary to ensure continuity or resolve issues that may impact the broader family
3. Continuity & Historical Context
✅Ensure that the family’s legacy, cultural history, and key traditions are preserved across reunions
✅Share historical records or past reunion insights to guide planning when needed
✅Recommend or mentor new leaders for committee roles as family grows and changes
4. Communication Bridge
✅Maintain communication with family elders, key stakeholders, and future planning teams
✅Serve as a neutral, respected figure to listen to concerns or suggestions from the family at large
✅Help relay feedback from the broader family to the planning committee (when requested)
5. Strategic Planning & Transition
✅Assist with long-term reunion planning (e.g., identifying future host cities or strategic goals)
✅Help ensure smooth transitions between different planning committees from year to year
✅Encourage documentation and archiving for future generations
